Spin Me Right Round...

So, last night marked my second appearance at the 2 HOUR Tri Fox Spin Class... You read right, 2 hours. It was actually...
AWESOME!
I do believe Bryan could be quoted saying 'You are CRAZY' about 45 minutes into the class. I gave everything I could last night, while keeping safely away from the awful gut rot feeling, and had an absolute blast. Smiles abounded and new personal confidence was established. On top of that, today I feel reasonably good!
That could be partially because of the new shorts. 'Tis true, up until the past week I did not own cycling shorts, just tri shorts. And there IS a significant difference. At the December Tri Fox meeting I received a $20 Scheels gift card so I decided the time was never better to go ahead and get cycling shorts. I hmm'd and haww'd for quite a while over which ones to get and I settled on a gel padded pair despite knowing some people have issues with them. (They're not as wicking as the chamois padded ones, in fact, they aren't really wicking at all.) However, in spin class last night anyway, they worked beautifully for me... And my booty is thanking me today!
I'd like to toot the Tri Fox horn here for a moment. (I know many of you read too, so go ahead, get proud!) Did you know that if you are in the NE WI area there is a club with FREE membership that will provide you all the endurance sport support you could ever want while also providing you with smiles and FUN??? The Fox Cities Triathlon Club is that club and I could not have asked for a better group to fall into as I'm striving towards all these goals. I've met people who make me double over laughing, people with more gear knowledge than I could ever imagine, people with medical knowledge who can answer my 'what's this pain' questions, and people that I think I am going to continue getting to know well into the future. Within the group there are rookies and seasoned athletes as well (there are even a couple who have done an event that is TRIPLE the Ironman distance!) all willing to share their experiences, good and bad, their lessons, and most importantly training time with anyone interested! I don't think you could go wrong joining strides with any one of them.
If you are at all interested in triathlon, at any level, and are in the Appleton, Oshkosh or Green Bay areas make sure to shoot me a note and I will get you information on the upcoming Tri101 class. It's FREE and it's FUN. There you'll learn some of the tidbits that make it fun as well as the jist of what a triathlon is. The dates are February 22-24, 2011. Come on out and see, in person, how awesome these Foxes are and how much they would like to help YOU become a triathlete!
Remember, triathletes are all shapes, all sizes, and all ages. EVERYONE will succeed just by toeing up to that start line...
